Why a reverse osmosis cooler versus a bottle water cooler
In todays world water has become more than just some liquid that comes out of your faucet. Going to the bathroom in your office or warehouse with a glass and filling it up to quench your thirst is not how we drink water in the 21st century. Today we understand that water has varying degrees of quality depending on where it is obtained, how it is processed, and how it is delivered to us, and how it is stored. Today we want our water to be fresh, clean, healthy, and have options such as cold, hot, and even ice.
Today you have a myriad of options on how you get your water. Many offices have bottle water coolers. The water which is placed in those 5 gallon bottles are processed at a factory where they take city water, the same water you are getting from the city, and is then run through a series of processes.
Some water may be simply filtered which is to say it is run through a sediment filter of some sort, run through a carbon filter, and then either ozonated, or run through an ultra violet light to make sure the microbiological contaminants are killed before it enters the bottle where it will be stored for some period of time. Other bottled water is produced through reverse osmosis then either ozonated or passed through a UV light.
The water is then put on trucks and delivered to your place of business where it is stored until you need it. Sounds awesome. However there are some inherent problems with this system. First, the injury liability issues which comes from one of the office personal having to heft this 40 lb bottle of water and hoist it onto the cooler. All it takes for the handler to pull a muscle or tweak a back, or throw out a shoulder is to twist wrong, lift in correctly, or slip and drop it and you have a workers comp issue. Time off, higher rates, and unhappy people.
Then you have to store the bottles of water. Depending on how much water you use space can be a premium and filling it up with bottles of water can be frustrating especially when that space can be better utilized.
The next issue is anytime you store water, and especially at room temperatures, you are guaranteeing you are building bacteria up in your system. The reason we are getting processed water in the first place is to make sure the water is bacteria and contaminant free. When this bottle handler in your office is hefting that jug, they invariably will hold the bottle by the bottom and the neck. Guess where the neck goes? Into the water reservoir which the handlers hands were just touching. Where were those hands before they handled the bottle? I don’t know, but I sure hope it was someplace clean and sanitary.
If you’ve ever taken the time to look inside that reservoir you may be scared into never peeking in there again. Most companies do not maintain and clean those reservoirs on a regular basis thus making them a gathering ground for unwanted dirt, debris, slime, and micro bad guys. If you buy a nice refreshing bottle of water at the gas station to quench your thirst it feels good going down. You then pop the cap back on, set it on your seat, and drive on down the road. That bottle sits on that seat, the sun beats on it, the temperature rises in the car, time has elapsed, and a day later your thirsty and see that bottle of water on your seat and you pop open the cap and take a swig. Guess what’s probably living in that bottle now? Its not just H20 anymore. You have some unwanted swimming guests now. Same with those bottles of stored water you are putting on that cooler.
By choosing to have a Filter cooler, you are choosing to make your water fresh. You will be pulling your raw water or source water from the same source your bottle water jug comes from. Your reverse osmosis system will now be creating that fresh, clean, clear, healthy water on site. It will be stored in a refrigerated environment ready for you to get a cool glass of healthy water. If you need to make coffee, hot chocolate, or even that cup of instant soup, it will taste richer, cleaner, and better. You also have the option to alkalize your water for even more healthful benefits. See our blog on alkalizing your water as well our website click on “products” for more information.
When you lease the cooler you simply pay a monthly fee for unlimited clean water. We take care of the rest. We maintain the cooler, repair it if it does break, change the filters yearly and sanitize it yearly. All you need to do is drink it. It will also be a tax write off as well.
