Recently I was watching an episode of The Human Planet on Netflix. It was a fascinating program, a sequel to Planet Earth and Planet Earth 2. This series however focuses on man in his environment, most of them harsh environments, in some of the most inhospitable places imaginable. I was amazed at how man has been able to adapt to some very interesting places and some very unusual lifestyles. Which is especially difficult for modern man to relate to. In one scene, the film crew follows a young man from Africa who is taking his herd of cattle to find a watering hole. At the same time the film crew is following a herd of elephants who are also trying to find the same watering hole. The boy must reach the watering hole before the elephants locate it. The young man finally arrives with his herd of cattle only to find the elephants had beat him and his cows there and were creating an elephant wall to prevent the boy and his cattle from drinking at the watering hole. Since the boy is human and has the ability to reason, he is able to scare the elephants without them charging him and his cattle. The elephants decide to move to a different part of the watering hole allowing the young man and his cattle to drink from the muddy water.
So as I mentioned, the young man drank from the same water as the cattle and the elephants. Now, I’m not sure if the cows or elephants get dysentary or cholera or parasites, or a host of other nasty disease causing microorganisms, but I know the young man can and probably will. Most people in third world countries do not have access to clean water and many live in a state of perpetual diarrhea and most likely have no idea what solid stools are like.
I was also recently reviewing some humanitarian organization’s websites such as Water.org, WaterForPeople.org, CharityWater.org, WishingWellIntl.org, and TheWateProject.org. Scrolling through their websites and watching their videos you can see the dire need a large part of the human race around the world have for clean water. It is incredible to see the filthy disease laden water people are drinking. It is why so many of the children born in third world countries die. The pictures tug at your heart strings as you see the deplorable conditions many humans have to live in.
It truly makes one grateful for the fact that we live in a first world country, and one where the majority of us have access to water that is abundant, piped into our homes, and meets basic EPA and WHO standards. I once asked an older woman what she thought was the greatest inventions of all time, her answer surprised me, but the more I thought of it, the more I agreed with her. She said electricity because it brought light into her home. Then she said indoor plumbing so you could get a drink of water inside the house and use the toilet on cold nights. Then finally air conditioning to keep cool when you could cook an egg on the sidewalk outside. It wasn’t cell phones, internet shopping, or virtual reality. Imagine that.
So water really is an important aspect of life. It is also a very limited resource, at least fresh accessible water. All life on this planet revolves around the location of water. Animals rely on it, insects need it, plants require it, and we as humans depend on it. Fortunately for us, we have the capability of locating water, transporting it, and cleaning it up. This has made societies stable and able to thrive as compared to ancient civilizations who had to migrate and abandoned cities when the well went dry so to speak.
In the twenty first century we are able to take raw and polluted water and treat and condition it based on what we are using the water for. We are also able to locate new water sources to bring water to thirsty people. We can even take ocean water and turn it into usable drinking water. When we want to be entertained by water we swim in it. We can treat our pool water with disinfectants to prevent the growth of dangerous germs which only half a century ago cause polio. If we want to wash our cars, we simply drive to a tunnel wash and sit in our car as it is automatically pulled through a series of washes and rinses where multi-colored soap is spritzed on which makes the dirt flee and then we can rinse it with spot free water so it doesn’t leave a residue. If we want to wash our clothes and get them as clean as possible without all the harsh detergents we can soften the water and protect our plumbing while were doing it. We can even clean up the water we drink so it is as clean and germ free as possible and then even alkalize it to increase its healthful properties.
The great part is we have access to all of this incredible technology to make our water as clean as possible. You can now have bottled water quality at all of the faucets in your home. You can shower in bottled water, drink bottled water, wash your dishes in bottled water, and even flush your waste in bottled water. Its as simple as calling your local water treatment dealer and having them come over and explain and show you how it is done. Sadly too many in the world don’t have this option and are consigned to sickness, death, and the time consuming acquirement of water.
So luckily you have the ability to solve both problems. You can call Total Water LLC (801) 796-0940 and we can make it so your home can have bottled quality water with efficient, dependable, equipment.
